The Water Resources Directorate in Tartous continues dredging the Jubayr River in the city of Banyas as part of its preparations for the winter season, aiming to enhance the river's capacity to handle potential flood waves and reduce the risk of flooding on agricultural lands.
So far, machinery and staff have dredged a two-kilometre stretch from the Refinery Bridge towards the sea, removing reed, trees and aquatic plants from the riverbanks and its course.
Dredging work is currently ongoing at bottleneck areas along the river near the refinery to ensure water flow and improve discharge efficiency during the rainy season.
