The technical staff at the Al-Ghab Centre, affiliated with the Hama Water Resources Directorate, installed four culverts on the open drains in record No. 1 in the Joreen area, as part of the 17,400-hectare project, in response to residents' requests and to protect agricultural lands from flooding.
The work included the installation of three box culverts with a diameter of 40 cm and a length of 10 m each, in addition to a fourth culvert with a diameter of 1 m at the intersection of these drains with agricultural roads, alongside works to clean and rehabilitate the drains.
These works aim to ensure smooth drainage of rainwater and prevent large areas of agricultural land from being flooded, thus avoiding crop damage, maximising the benefits of rehabilitating these drains in preventing flood risks.
These measures help safeguard agricultural production and protect farmers' efforts during the rainy seasons, enhancing the stability of the area and supporting food security in the Al-Ghab plain.
