The Water Resources Directorate in Latakia completes the rehabilitation of the Difa pumping station

As part of efforts to improve the efficiency of the irrigation system and support the agricultural sector in Latakia Governorate, the work to complete the rehabilitation of the Difa Pumping Station at the Tarjano Dam continues. This is being done in cooperation between the Latakia Water Resources Directorate and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), serving the irrigation of 2,600 hectares of farmland.

These efforts come as a continuation of the rehabilitation work the organization carried out before the 2025 irrigation season, with the completion of the current phase delayed until after the season to ensure the continuous irrigation process and not affect the provision of irrigation water for the farmland. The work began on September 15 and currently includes civil works and the replacement of the intake and discharge lines at the station.

Mechanical and electrical rehabilitation work is scheduled to be completed after the civil works, which will help improve the station's efficiency, enhance its operational readiness, and boost its water pumping capacity. This will ensure the continuous supply of irrigation water to the farmland and support agricultural production in the governorate.
