The water resources department in Tartus is addressing the leakage problem in the Western Canal branch.

The Directorate of Water Resources in Tartous continues to implement its maintenance plan in preparation for the irrigation season. The technical staff at the directorate replaced irrigation line lpl2-1-12 with a new 150mm diameter polyethylene line, 36 metres long, at the intersection with the Jomaa-Hamidiya road.

A 150mm diameter valve was also replaced on the same line. These works were carried out to address water leakage issues on the road and adjacent lands, ensuring reduced water wastage and the delivery of water at the required flow.

This line serves approximately 14 hectares of agricultural land within the western canal branch, and this maintenance will help improve the efficiency of distributing and delivering irrigation water to the beneficiary agricultural lands in a regular and sustainable manner.
