The Directorate of Water Resources in Latakia continues its field work at irrigation facilities and pumping stations as part of the monitoring, operation, and maintenance program, to ensure the continuity of pumping and keep the water networks and facilities ready.
At the Khirbat Al-Jawziyah Dam, the fifth irrigation cycle kicked off, coinciding with a field inspection of the dam’s channel and monitoring its readiness, in addition to carrying out weeding and manual soil maintenance around the dam. In the area of irrigation network maintenance, excavation and fault detection were carried out on several networks at Al-Maghrayt and Salma Mill stations, including a 300 mm metal fault on the main line of PS-3-4 Al-Maghrayt station in sector 14, and excavation and fault investigation next to the distribution screed for PS-3-5 Salma Mill station in sector 12. A fault was also detected in a 100 mm asbestos and polyethylene line within the Agricultural Institute’s premises on the Al-Maghrayt station network in sector 13. At the same time, work continued on operating the stations in the second phase of the Mashqita Dam group, with pumping monitored at the towers and cross stations, Shabtaliyya and the main pump line, Nahr Al-Arab with a single pump, Al-Alemiya on all three networks, Al-Shamiya, Karsana, Salma Mill, Al-Maghrayt on the western network, Al-Qanjara, Al-Maqati, and Damsarkhu. These operations confirm the ongoing technical and field monitoring of the irrigation system, through operating the stations, monitoring the networks, detecting faults, and addressing them as quickly as possible.
