The Directorate of Water Resources in Latakia continues to support the formation of water users' associations and boost farmers' participation
The Integrated Management Department at the Directorate of Water Resources in Latakia, through the Water Guidance Office and Water Users Associations, continues its field meetings with farmers to encourage their participation in managing water resources and organizing their use.
The meetings included a gathering with farmers in Ghiyu village to form a Water Users Association there, attended by the village head and the head of the Farmers’ Association. Similarly, there was a meeting with farmers in Qamin village to set up a Water Users Association, with the presence of the head of the Farmers’ Association and representatives from the guidance unit and the municipality.
These meetings aim to strengthen cooperation with farmers and activate their role in managing irrigation water, helping improve water use efficiency and supporting the agricultural situation in the area.
