A team from the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands in Syria (ACSAD), along with specialists from Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, and Lebanon, made a field visit to the Abresh Dam in the Safita countryside, accompanied by the Water Resources Director, Engineer Mohammad Mohrez, to check out the dam, its uses, and its role in providing irrigation water for the Akkar Plain area.
During the visit, Engineer Mohrez gave an explanation about the dam, how it was constructed, its annual storage, and its uses, clarifying its role in supplying irrigation water through a main government network extending from the Abresh Dam to the Akkar Plain area.
The visit comes as part of a training course organized by the UNESCO office in Beirut in cooperation with ACSAD, within the framework of studying the impact of climate change on groundwater recharge in the region, which ACSAD is currently examining.
