The water resources in Tartous are using a new technique to repair asbestos pipes

The Directorate of Water Resources in Tartous has started using a new technology for the first time to repair buried asbestos pipes, and applied it to two lines within the Tal Tal Housh irrigation networks, helping improve the irrigation stability of 480 hectares of farmland.

The directorate's workshops carried out two connections with a diameter of 500 mm on type C asbestos pipes in the villages of Tal Sinoun and Arzouna, using special STM 37 couplings equipped with gaskets and tightening bolts to fix water leak sites and secure the connections.

This technology allows for repairing faults and leak sites, especially those caused by damaged clamps and gaskets, reducing the downtime of the lines, cutting water waste, and lowering maintenance costs compared to traditional methods used to fix these problems.
