Rehabilitation of the Apamea water complex to support the agricultural sector in the Al-Ghab area

The Directorate of Water Resources in Hama – Al-Ghab Center has started the rehabilitation work of the Tuwayna pumping station, in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), as part of the directorate's plan to restart and rehabilitate the Afamia Water Complex in all its components.
 
The Afamia Water Complex includes the Afamia Dam, the main Afamia pumping station, the Tuwayna pumping station, in addition to the 3000-hectare irrigation and reclamation project, as part of efforts to revive these interconnected projects after years of hiatus, and enhance their role in supporting agricultural activity in the Al-Ghab region.
 
The rehabilitation works aim to improve the irrigation system and provide sustainable water sources for agricultural lands, in a way that meets the needs of farmers and helps them develop their agriculture and increase their production.
 
The restart of these projects is expected to contribute to supporting the stability of the agricultural process, increasing the availability of agricultural products, and enhancing the elements of agricultural development in the region, in a way that supports food security and provides a better environment for the continuation of agricultural production in the Al-Ghab region.
