Ongoing maintenance and dredging work to boost the efficiency of irrigation and drainage networks in Raqqa

The staff of the Water Resources Directorate continue to carry out maintenance and rehabilitation work on several water facilities, as part of efforts to improve the efficiency of irrigation and drainage networks and support the agricultural sector.  
 
The work included addressing erosion and reinforcing the banks of the main Wadi Al-Faydh canal, as well as rehabilitating the road parallel to the High Lift Canal and deepening the South Canal for 900 meters.  
 
In the fourth sector, the work involved deepening several canals and drains for a total length of 2,450 meters, along with maintenance of the Sakrawea sluice on RP2.2 line and maintenance work at the Sakra Canal intake.  
 
In the fifth sector, the Kasrat Afnan drain was deepened and two culverts were opened, while additional work included deepening and reinforcing the Al-Tawal River for 400 meters and deepening two main drains in the seventh sector for 600 meters.  
 
These efforts are part of the directorate’s ongoing plan to maintain the readiness of water facilities and improve the efficiency of the irrigation and drainage system to serve agricultural lands.
