Ongoing efforts to rehabilitate irrigation networks and boost the efficiency of water infrastructure
The Water Resources Directorate in Raqqa continues its field work across various sectors as part of the maintenance and rehabilitation plan, aiming to repair damages, improve the efficiency of irrigation and drainage networks, and support the stability of agricultural activities.
Main works carried out:
Sector One: Repairing 4 break sites on the GM2 Asadiya canal by digging and dredging 60 m³ and backfilling 40 m³, in addition to strengthening the Ya'rab Al-Khatounia canal for a length of 500 m, fixing collapses in the stations' canal at Hattin Farm, and reinforcing the banks of the Nairbek canal with 160 m³ of soil.
Section Two: Treating collapses in the Al-Murtaha Canal in Al-Rajm village, removing cracked concrete and saturated soil, along with backfilling, leveling, and compacting 90 m³ of soil.
Section Three: Lifting and installing 7 saddles and 7 flumes on the BC1.3* canal, and fixing a collapse towards the main road with backfilling of 10 m³ of good soil.
Section Four: Rehabilitating the drainage next to the blaykh in Al-Hamrat over a length of 300 m, and rehabilitating the Volcano Canal over 800 m.
Section Five: Rehabilitating the main canal from the box section up to Al-Suwaidiya station over 500 m.
Technical crews and equipment continue carrying out maintenance and rehabilitation works, helping improve the performance of the irrigation and drainage system, protect infrastructure, and serve the agricultural sector.
