Maintenance and rehabilitation works for irrigation and drainage networks to enhance the stability of agricultural services in Raqqa Governorate.

The Directorate of Water Resources in Raqqa is carrying out maintenance and rehabilitation work across various sectors, aiming to enhance the efficiency of irrigation and drainage networks, address malfunctions, and rectify structural weaknesses. These efforts contribute to improved water management and support the needs of agricultural lands and farmers.

In the first sector, work included the maintenance and reinforcement of irrigation canals, as well as the desilting of the drainage channel in Hawi al-Hawa. In the third sector, maintenance and reinforcement were performed on the Balikh embankment, alongside the desilting of the drainage channel running parallel to the Balikh River in Mushirfah.

In the fourth sector, several drainage channels were desilted, and irrigation gates were installed and maintained. Additionally, the 32MH canal underwent maintenance, and an earthen dam was constructed on the 31MB canal. Work in the fifth sector involved the desilting, excavation, and rehabilitation of the MD25 drainage channel, as well as the desilting of the MD4 stormwater drainage channel. These measures enhance drainage efficiency, prevent water accumulation, protect agricultural land, and improve the delivery of irrigation water to fields.

The General Authority for Water Resources extends its gratitude to the technical staff and personnel of the Directorate for their dedicated fieldwork. It emphasizes the importance of these operations in maintaining the operational readiness of water infrastructure, improving irrigation and drainage services, supporting farmers, and safeguarding their livelihoods—all of which positively impact the stability of agricultural activity in the region.
