Latakia Water Resources Directorate: Operating the Tatra Pumping Station and monitoring the rehabilitation of the Al-Huweiz Station
As part of the efforts by the Directorate of Water Resources in Latakia to enhance the readiness of the irrigation system and improve the efficiency of pumping stations, today the Batra pumping station was operated through all three pumps, and water started being pumped into Batra's irrigation networks, while monitoring the irrigation water situation and ensuring it reaches the benefiting agricultural lands.
At the same time, a delegation from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) conducted a field visit to the Al-Hweiz pumping station, during which a comprehensive technical inspection of the station was carried out and the necessary information and data for its rehabilitation and equipment replacement were documented.
The inspection also included the second pump, where the station crew removed its cover, and the FAO team inspected the shaft and mechanical parts of the pump to determine its technical condition and the needs for rehabilitation work.
These activities come as part of the ongoing field follow-up on the irrigation system, working to improve the efficiency of pumping stations and ensure their continuous operation to serve the agricultural lands and benefiting networks.
