Latakia Water Resources Directorate: Dam reserves are at 65% as the irrigation season comes to an end
Data from the Directorate of Water Resources in Latakia showed that the current storage volume in the province's dams has reached 238,212 cubic meters, compared to 90,223 cubic meters in the same period last year, while the total maximum storage capacity is 366,450 cubic meters.
According to the data, the overall fill rate in the province's dams has reached 65.01%, with 34.99% of the storage capacity still empty, at a time that is nearing the end of the irrigation season.
Mashqita Dam tops the list of dams in terms of storage volume, with its current storage approaching 154,000 cubic meters out of a design capacity of 210,000 cubic meters. It is followed by the Tarjano Dam, then the Al-Huweiz Dam, while the rest of the volumes are distributed among the Bloran, Salah al-Din, Beit Rayhan, and Al-Haffa dams, along with a number of smaller surface dams.
These numbers are particularly significant because they come at a late stage in the irrigation season, making them a good indicator of the remaining water situation in the province and its impact on agricultural and household needs.
