Installing 6 water culverts in Khirbet Al-Naqous to protect agricultural lands from flooding
The Water Resources Directorate in Hama is carrying out the installation of six water culverts at the end of Al-Muqassam 34 Canal in the Khirbat Al-Naqous area, as part of the completion of the 17,400-hectare project. The goal is to improve rainwater drainage efficiency and reduce the risk of flooding farmland during the rainy season.
Each culvert has a diameter of 40 cm and a length of 10 meters, located at the junction of the main canal with a branch canal, allowing the water to flow into a main canal that then carries it to the Orontes River. This provides an organized path for water drainage and helps prevent blockages in the network.
These works help protect the surrounding farmland from water accumulation and flooding, reduce crop damage, and prevent losses for farmers. This supports the continuity of agricultural production, preserves farmers' efforts and livelihoods, and boosts food security in the Al-Ghab Plain area.
The General Authority for Water Resources thanks the technical staff and workers at the Hama Water Resources Directorate for their efforts in carrying out the works, improving the agricultural drainage system, and reducing the impact of rain on lands and crops.
