Homs resources, in cooperation with the FAO, are following up on the rehabilitation of irrigation projects

Homs Resources, in cooperation with FAO, continues the rehabilitation of irrigation projects

As part of the cooperation and coordination between the General Authority for Water Resources and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to rehabilitate the infrastructure of vital irrigation projects, the Homs Water Resources Directorate continues to complete the rehabilitation of the Hassaneh and Shabrouniyah canals in the Talkalakh area, branching from the Southern Great River, to irrigate fertile agricultural lands covering about 750 hectares, where around 20,000 beneficiaries practice agricultural activities.

The work includes constructing concrete sections and box culverts, establishing side water intakes to supply the subsidiary canals with water flows and organize them, in addition to restoring the cross sections of the canal paths.

These efforts help improve efficiency, reduce water losses, and deliver water to all lands, aiming to revive agricultural activities, support the agricultural sector, empower farmers on their lands, improve livelihoods, and ensure the sustainability of water resources.
