Homs Resources held a meeting with the organization/OPS/ to coordinate on the rehabilitation of the upper Orontes irrigation canals
The meeting was chaired by Engineer Mohammad Al-Hussein, Director of Water Resources in Homs, with the attendance of a representative from the /OPS/ organization and the relevant technicians. The meeting included discussing the needs for rehabilitating the main Jousseh irrigation canal, which was damaged due to the prevailing conditions in the area, leading to its complete cessation of use.
The proposed rehabilitation work covers most of the project components, including concrete and metal works, siphons, and regulators. It was agreed to carry out a joint field tour to assess the required needs and coordinate to accurately determine the requirements. The rehabilitation works aim to restore irrigation to 3,300 hectares from the Jousseh canal, benefiting 45,000 people, strengthening the resilience of farmers to continue their agricultural activities, improving their living conditions, and achieving the integration of the agricultural sector, water security, and sustainability of water resources.
