Homs Resources completes the rehabilitation of the Homs–Hama irrigation project
As part of the cooperation between the Ministry of Energy - General Authority for Water Resources and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Water Resources Directorate in Homs is continuing to implement the rehabilitation of subsidiary canals and irrigation service centers for farmers.
The work includes applying concrete lining to the canals, various metal works, as well as a set of civil works specific to farmer service centers. Additionally, specialized reinforced concrete works are being carried out to regulate water flow and ensure its efficiency within the network.
The rehabilitation project helps irrigate about 13,000 hectares of fertile land and enables nearly 200,000 people to continue agricultural activities and produce various crops that supply the local market with agricultural products. These efforts also enhance the agricultural sector’s ability to adapt to climate changes and achieve water resource sustainability.
