Hama Water Resources Directorate removes violations of encroachment on the Salhab Dam Lake reserve
The Directorate of Water Resources in Hama has started removing a number of violations within the perimeter of Salhab Dam Lake. These violations involved some farmers planting summer crops inside the dam’s protected area, which is a clear violation of the regulations set to protect these water facilities.
These measures are part of the ongoing efforts by the Directorate to preserve the dam’s perimeter from any kind of encroachment or unauthorized use, to ensure the safety of the facility and protect its storage and operational functions.
In this regard, the Directorate of Water Resources reminded farmers of the importance of not encroaching on dam perimeters, stressing that any agricultural or other type of activity within these protected areas is a legal violation that requires the necessary actions.
The Directorate also emphasized the importance of cooperation from the local community and farmers to ensure the preservation of dams as strategic facilities serving both the agricultural and water sectors, which also helps prevent violators from facing future legal consequences due to continued infractions.
