Getting ready for the rainy season.. The Directorate of Water Resources in Latakia continues to dredge canals and waterways and to boost their readiness for drainage
The Directorate of Water Resources in Latakia continues to carry out dredging works on canals and waterways in several areas of the governorate, in preparation for the rainy season. The aim is to enhance the water flow capacity of the waterways, ensure water circulation, and reduce the risks of blockages and water accumulation during rainfall.
The works included dredging the main canal in the Al-Bassa area, the Berna Al-Alimiya canal, and the Al-Maghreet canal, alongside following up on the dredging of the Hammoushin canal in the Arab Al-Malik area, the Ras Al-Ain canal towards the Jableh–Baniyas old road, and the main channel at elevation +26 in the Al-Eidieh area, along with carrying out loading and removal of dredged materials.
Dredging works also continue in the Belloran River, where parts of the riverbed have been cleared, contributing to improving its water flow capacity and reducing blockages during the rainy season.
These efforts are part of the Directorate's plan to maintain canals and waterways, enhance their readiness, and improve their efficiency in handling rainfall runoff, which helps minimize water accumulation and flooding risks and protects water facilities and infrastructure.
