The Water Resources Directorate in Hama carried out comprehensive clearing work on the Ba'reen stream, spanning nearly 4 kilometers, which included removing accumulated soil and reeds along the stream for the first time in about fifteen years.
The work involved completely cleaning the watercourse and opening its path to allow natural water flow, restoring its drainage efficiency that had declined due to years of sediment and aquatic plant buildup.
The goal of this work is to reduce flooding in the stream that used to affect nearby agricultural lands, protecting crops and farmers from the risks of rising water levels during rainy periods.
This initiative also helps stabilize agricultural production in the area and supports food security by preserving cultivated lands, in line with the directorate's approach to rehabilitating and regularly maintaining waterways to ensure their sustainability.
