The Water Resources Directorate in Raqqa is carrying out extensive work to maintain and clean channels and water passages in several sectors of the irrigation project, and to address damage caused by floods and rainfall, aiming to boost the efficiency and readiness of the water drainage system.
The work includes removing sediment, silt and obstacles from channels and water passages, reinforcing damaged parts of earth embankments, opening drainage paths and removing encroachments that block water flow, covering several sectors in the area.
These activities help improve rainfall and flood water drainage, reduce water accumulation and flooding of farmland and residential areas, protecting agricultural land and infrastructure and enhancing readiness during rainfall periods.
The General Authority for Water Resources thanks the technical staff and field teams at the Raqqa Water Resources Directorate for their efforts, and urges locals and farmers to maintain the channels and water passages, not block or damage them, to ensure ongoing efficiency in water drainage.
