Extensive field alert for the Lattakia Water Resources Directorate to deal with the repercussions of heavy rainfall
The Directorate of Water Resources in Latakia continues its alert and field monitoring as the rainfall intensifies. It has taken immediate measures, including stopping pumping and irrigation towards several networks and areas to protect infrastructure and manage water drainage, in addition to closing the gates of several dams, including Al-Huweiz, Kafr Dbeil, Khirbet Al-Jawziya, Al-Qanjra, and Al-Khirba.
At the same time, the technical teams carried out field work in the Zaghrin area, which included digging a channel and putting up a barrier in front of the Al-Qarah Ali houses to reduce rainwater from reaching them, dredging the openings of the Khashkhasha Bridge on the Zaghrin River, and the culvert in the Al-Qarah Ali neighborhood, in addition to draining rainwater accumulation at the houses at the village entrance using engineering equipment.
They also dredged the gates of the MC3 canal manually to ensure the proper drainage of rainwater and prevent the canal from overflowing onto neighboring lands and low-lying areas, along with opening a water drain for the Shalfatia 14 station to protect it from any rain inflow and ensure the safety of the facility.
The Directorate of Water Resources in Latakia continues to monitor the field situation throughout the rainy period and take the necessary measures according to developments, helping to protect residents and facilities and reduce the impact of heavy rainfall.
