Directorate of Water Resources in Damascus and its countryside

Damascus Governorate and Rural Damascus are characterized by their location in the southwestern part of the Syrian Arab Republic, where they are bordered by Homs Governorate to the north and Daraa Governorate to the south, in addition to the border with Lebanon to the west. The region mainly relies on groundwater and the springs of the Barada River and its tributaries, and it is famous for its important water basins such as the Barada and Al-Awaj basins. It is also considered one of the areas with significant agricultural and population importance, making water resource management there a top priority.
