Controlling illegal well drilling
The Syrian Ministry of Justice issued a circular to tighten measures against those violating the well-drilling law, aiming to protect groundwater from depletion. The circular emphasized the necessity of not releasing unlicensed drilling rigs until a final decision is issued.
The General Authority for Land and Sea Ports prohibited the entry of well-drilling rigs into Syria without prior approval from the Ministry of Energy, in order to regulate their importation under arid climatic conditions.
The Ministry and the Authority called for adherence to the regulations to ensure the protection of water resources and the proper management of heavy equipment in the public interest.
