Completion of maintenance work at the Al-Hweiz 66 kV substation under the supervision of the Directorate of Water Resources in Latakia
The Directorate of Water Resources in Latakia continues to follow up on maintenance and rehabilitation work at the Hawiz 66 kV Substation, where the 66 kV Substation Maintenance Workshop of the Latakia Operations Department has completed its work to enhance the readiness of electrical equipment and improve operational efficiency.
The work included replacing the Buchholz protection for the 66/6.3 kV power transformer regulator No. 2, renewing the moisture-absorbing silica gel in the compensation tanks of the power transformers, their regulators, and grounding transformers, as well as replacing the temperature gauge for grounding transformer No. 1. It also involved checking the backup battery charger and monitoring the control and signaling circuits, along with replacing clamps and pins on the 6.3 kV side of the power transformers and a copper marker for the grounding transformer.
At the same time, desilting work is being carried out on the Hawiz River over the main channel at elevation 50 manually by network workers, aiming to remove obstacles and sediment, improve flow efficiency, and enhance the channel’s performance.
These activities are part of ongoing technical follow-up to maintain the readiness of electrical and hydraulic equipment and ensure continuous and efficient operation.
