Clearing agricultural drainage channels in Sector 5 to protect land and enhance drainage efficiency in Deir ez-Zor Governorate.
The heavy machinery and maintenance teams of the Deir ez-Zor Directorate of Water Resources—operating within Sector 5—are currently carrying out the clearing and cleaning of agricultural drainage channels. This work is being conducted under the supervision of engineering and technical staff, with the participation of field workers, to enhance the efficiency of the agricultural drainage network and ensure it remains fully operational for the benefit of agricultural lands.
The operations include the removal of weeds, reeds, silt, accumulated sediment, and stagnant water from the channels. This facilitates better water flow and drainage, helping to prevent water levels from rising on agricultural land.
These efforts are of direct importance to farmers, as they help mitigate soil waterlogging and salt accumulation, thereby preserving soil fertility and productivity. This supports the sustainability of agricultural activity and protects crops from damage caused by inadequate drainage.
