The Water Resources Directorate in Tartous held a meeting to discuss the irrigation plan for summer crops, in light of the large increase in dam reservoirs as a result of the heavy rainfall this season.
The meeting was chaired by Bassam Tuffaha, a member of the Executive Office for the Agriculture Sector, and attended by the Director of Water Resources for the Governorate, Engineer Muhammad Mahrez, the Director of Agriculture, Dr. Muhammad Ahmad, the Head of the Farmers' Union, Raed Mustafa, and relevant technical staff.
Engineer Mahrez confirmed that dam reservoirs are at high levels this year, ensuring sufficient irrigation water for all summer crops. An agreement was reached to secure irrigation through government irrigation networks, improve water use efficiency, and guarantee its equitable distribution among farmers.
The attendees emphasized the sustainability of water resources by encouraging the formation of water user associations and expanding the use of modern irrigation technologies, while continuing to provide technical support to farmers wishing to adopt these systems.
